Technique Blog Hop - Cricut Overlay

It's a new year and one of my things I want to do this year is to be a more faithful blogger! So, to keep it going, I'm trying to participate in the Technique Blog Hop. This month we are to create something with a Cricut overlay from the Artbooking cartridge. If you've come from Haley's Blog you've seen her take on the overlay. Here's what I finally settled on creating.

I first cut out the overlay on the Cricut at 11 inches. Then I cut more snowflakes in various sizes. The photo frame and the title were cut from Twilight cardstock at 11 inches.

I love how the Sparkle Flourishes make it glisten!

A close-up of the photo with my nephews and their families on a ski trip!

Here's a close-up of the overlay.

Here are some of the supplies I used:

X7175B Frosted Paper Packet

X5666 Twilight Cardstock

 1388 Colonial White Cardstock

Z1812 Sparkles Clear Flourishes-Small

Look What I Won!

And, all for a good cause...

Close To My Heart held their annual convention in Dallas this past July! And, being a Texas girl, you know I was there!

To raise money for Operation Smile, the charity that we help raise funds for, we had the opportunity to donate for a chance to win a complete 10 page album! And, I was the lucky winner!!!

Notice that every last one of the pages has stitching on it! It's inspired me to use more stitching on my own layouts.

I love the rays on the first page and can't wait to try out the ink splatters on the page.

The you are Amazing layout is going to look amazing when I get pics on it & the background has small circles stamped on it.

My Favorite Things colors are rich-looking & the diagonal stripes are my favorite.

The Lucky layout is awesome with paper squares used a a resist with the spray pen.

Love the chevron border on Enjoy the Ride.

I've gotta get some of that glitter ribbon used on Capture the Moment.

You Can Soar has feathers cut from our Cricut Artiste cartridge.

The Happy layout is my favorite! It is just PRETTY! & my style completely! I love the scalloped borders that are stacked, inked & raised up on the edge to add dimension.

The Love Life layout will be beautiful with the right pictures. It sparkles with glitter!

Love the pinwheels on the Looking Good layout.

And, finally, One Fine Day is simply cute in a Fallish kind of way!

I can't wait until I find the right pictures to make it complete! Stop by & take a look when I get it finished!

Thank you Close To My Heart for choosing me as the lucky winner of the album!!!

Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month we are highlighting the Layering a Window Card Technique as shown on page 33 in the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book!  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.
We would love to see what you’ve created using this month’s technique, please visit our challenge blog at http://technicallyterrific.blogspot.com where you can share your project and be entered in a chance to win great prizes.  You will also find a listing of all participants and their blog addresses if you should get lost or want to reference a blog along the way.  Let’s get started!
If you are coming from Wendy's Blog, you are on the right track!
For this month's technique, I chose a 5.5" card with a heart window cut out with the Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge. I'm using CTMH's Pemberley paper pack with some Tulip cardstock for the background behind the flowery doily piece that I cut out of the reverse side of the B&T I used for the card front. I used the zip strip for borders on the top & bottom of the card, added the Basic Assortment in the buttons to outline one side of the heart that I had sponged around the edges with Cocoa ink & ended it with a bow of Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon colored with Tulip ink. And, to finish it off I added the i & u to say I love you. Who wouldn't love receiving this beautiful card?
Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue on to Bethany's Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation. Happy hopping!

September Stamp of the Month Mini Blog Hop

Welcome to our inspirational blog hop, where we are sharing creative ideas with you showcasing Close To My Heart's September Stamp of the Month.  It's called "Limited Edition" and it contains 21 images. This fabulous set is available for just $5 with a $50 purchase on my website!

I have some wonderful Consultants joining me in this hop which works as a circle. So begin "hopping" and feel free to leave comments along the way, please!

You should have arrived here from Tawnya's Blog.

My creation is a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card. I've been playing with Close To My Heart's new, exclusive Art Philosophy cartridge and I had cut out a small version of a card with a bracket cutout in the front section. Then I had cut out the tag with the Cricut in the right size to use with the Limited Edition stamp set. So, I decided to use the small card as a holder for the tag. Well, it was a little stark since I had cut it out of Colonial White cardstock. So, I ran the Desert Sand stamp pad over it to give it some color. Then I inked the edges in black & fastened the tag holder with some antique copper mini brads. Then, I went in search of a pattern that would look good with those elements. I found On the Edge in Wishes card confidence book & decided that would look good. I changed it up by turning it horizontally and instead of cutting the plaid B&T into a circle, I kept it as a square. Then, I punched out a scalloped circle out of the same paper but flipped it over so that the rose pattern on the reverse side would be seen. As a finishing touch, I added a small piece of the zip strip that all the newest B&T papers have. Doesn't it look cute with the scallops across the top?

The card as it will come out of the envelope. I like the hand holding a pen in the bottom left corner.
With the tag pulled out.

Thank you for stopping by. Now hop on over to Melissa's Blog where she will show you her creative use of this stamp set! Happy Hoppin'!

If you all have any questions, let me know!  Otherwise, I look forward to hoppin' with ya!  :0)
